Well people really can't tell you what runes/upgrades to put on your armor unless you tell us your profession/build/what your doing. If you tell me what you are going to be running as, then I could help you out more.

Well... ummm... I mainly play a Ranger/Monk but I only use the Monk secondary for Rebirth in PvE. I play PvE mostly and some AB battles with my guild and I use a Sundering Bow of Fortitude with Burning Arrow or Barrage. ^_^

Survivor insignias and vitae runes. Unless you know you need some other special benefit from a different rune/insignia, it's a good idea to always use survivor and vitae. The extra health has so many benefits, one of which being it keeps you alive longer.

Oh so I should put a rune of major vigor on like all my armor? I just had enough to put it on my chest and leg armor though. But I'll buy more. :P

Here is roughly what you should be using on your ranger
Head: Survivor, Minor Marks
Chest: Survivor, Minor Expertise
Arms: Survivor, Minor Wilderness or Vitae
Legs: Survivor, Minor Beast or Vitae
Feet: Survivor, Vigor (best you can afford).
The Vigor runes do not stack, only the Vitae (+10hp) ones stack.

What if I focus on Marksmanship or Expertise only? Because that's what I mostly use except for Troll Unguent which is Wilderness Survival. :P

Full survivor can't never be a bad choice for PvE and an occasional dip into PvP aka your AB-ventures.
I do however have a 'beastmaster' armor for those fun times I take the pet out for a stroll.
I wouldn't sign subarucar suggestion there concerning your headpiece:
I almost always run minor expertise on my head for the nice 14 expertise breakpoint.
Sometimes I run with a major marksmanship (on hands or whatever) as well, especially in AB where DP is absent. Stay away from Superiors though ... beside the Vigor rune, which is a must in PvP imo.
Have fun!

Kagome said they mostly run Barrage and BA builds, and played AB, with the off and on style format of AB you dont really need the extra energy, and the extra damage will usually be more usefull. If running barrage, 13 expertise is the breakpoint for it to cost 2 energy, also no need for expertise headgear.
If running barrage, go with 13 exp, if running BA go with 14 exp, if playing ab, go with 13 exp. These are general assumptions, in PvE or more straight up fight PvP areas like HA or even RA, if you use a 10 energy skill regularly, go for 14 exp. If you only have 5 energy skills, or rarely use a 10 energy skill, go with 13.
I personally stick with 13 for PvP as the only 10 energy skill I use is Savage Shot, in PvE I enjoy running a Sundering & Penetrating Attack turret, so having 14 exp comes in handy here.

Ofc it isnt bad but is not the best by far.
For pvp High HP set > Full Survivor.
For pve those 30-40hp are gonna fly in 0.2 secs in HM. I would go with +10 armor insignias . Explorer or Brawler or even +10 vs phys ( because 100 vs elemental is more than enough ). Since you are a ranged attacker and not the main damage dealer you are not likely to be targeted and even more if you have those +10 universal armor.
If you are under attack , use a dodge stance and those +10 armor can make you last 1 or 2 attacks more wich is more than enough for a healer to bring you up.
HP set is "not bad" and "not bad" to have it but thats if you are going to have 2+ armors for PvE imo . After testing Survivor, Radiant , Brawler , Explorer and +10 vs Phys .... thats what i get .

you didn't notice that your health didn't increase after applying a second vigor rune to your armor...?
